Installing Architectural Lighting at a Client’s Home | Gemstone Lighting in Edmonton

Hey guys, we’re here today at 141 Blackburn Drive in Edmonton with Natural Light Edmonton to do an install. And so we’re going to walk you through the process of what it looks like to install gemstone lights with Natural Light Edmonton.

So, a part of the process of installation, when it comes to a home like this where you have lots of different transition, which is essentially ideal — a home you like having transition — it accents, it features the home, and our track just adds, and lights add to those transitions. Some of the challenges is when you have transitions like this one up to there and up to here is essentially getting your wiring and your track from spots and connected. And so the important part there is when you can’t hide it, sometimes we’re able to cut into the soffits and feed through the soffits. In this case, that won’t work. So the important thing then is, when we’re doing things like using loom or even a steel track, is clean, tight, and like just good lines so that even if you do see it, it really does not capture your eye.

Highlight Areas Of Your Home You Want To See

At the end of the day, I’d say 95% of my clients don’t even notice the loom I put on their house. I usually point it out to them just because I like them to see where I put the transitions. And that’s the key: you want clean, straight lines from transition to transition so that way you’re not taking away from essentially the beauty of the transitions in the house. You’re actually just adding to them by the having the lights accent those areas.

When it comes to installation, one of the most important parts of the installation is where you’re going to put the power source, the power box, and controller. And one of the main things you want to consider is where the track’s going to go, start and end, but also you want it to be hidden. And the whole idea of gemstone lights is you’re doing a permanent lighting system that, when it’s not on, it’s not seen. And so the last thing you want is the power box to be right by the front door in a very obvious spot.

And so why why we’re over here in the corner of this house, we have our outlet here. We have our down spout, which we can then run wire and hide along the down spout and then mount the box up there and then start the track run from there. And everything will be well hidden. And it’s just a great opportunity, great starting spot. And no one really walks back here anyway. So, this is kind of the like unused area of the house. So, it’s a perfect place to hide a power box and get a job started.
